Before ultimately picking the 76ers, James had plenty of other options, with the Clippers being one of them. According to ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin, the Clippers offered him a one-year deal worth over $20 million before he agreed to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. James declined it and narrowed his final choices to the 76ers, Cavaliers, Heat, Warriors, and Timberwolves.
