Derbies are everywhere, dragon boats and football compete—Round 7 of the Guangdong Super League is full of excitement.
Written by Cheng Shan. Round 6 of the Guangdong Super League saw a series of upsets. The Eastern Division leader Shenzhen was held to a draw at home by the seventh-placed Shanwei, ending their winning streak. In the Western Division, Guangzhou, which was competing with Zhanjiang for the top spot, was stunned by a stoppage-time goal from Yunfu at home, allowing Zhanjiang, on a five-match winning run, to open a three-point gap. Only 16 goals were scored across the 10 matches in Round 6, just one more than Round 4 (15 goals), and a sharp 45% decrease compared to Round 5 (29 goals).
